man watching these films for the first time make me question why in the nine inch hell i haven't seen them sooner, so far i have adored the previous films for delivering fantastic animation, engaging stories with real and relatable characters with terrific voice acting and has moments that'll make you seriously ponder and cry and Only Yesterday is no expection
especially with the themes and messages it tells about memories, childhood and especially on how the past can affect you, it does an excellent job shifting back and forth with the past and present making you understand why the main girl Taeko is the way that she is and how she should not let the past define who she is and her relationship with Toshio was also great as well, her memories from childhood especially are some of the most real and incredible stuff i've ever seen in an animated film or an film in general, it had me smiling and feeling great about myself, it had me feeling sooo many emotions along with having incredible writing, fantastic use of its themes and messages especially with the subletly of it all and probably having my favorite ending i've seen from them soo far, just 5 films into their filmography and i can already tell that ranking all their films won't be easy
Rating/Grade: 110 (A++)
